Primary Pulmonary Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Managed With Definitive Radiochemotherapy: A Case Report

ABSTRACT Primary pulmonary adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is one of the rare and under‐discussed forms of lung cancer. Being a unique form of cancer, it often presents as a challenge for treating physicians to timely diagnose and treat it. This case report presents a 41 years old male with primary pulmonary adenoid cystic carcinoma originating from the right main bronchus along with multiple mediastinal and right hilar lymphadenopathy. The patient was treated with radical radiochemotherapy (RTCT) contrary to the conventional surgical treatment for pulmonary adenoid cystic carcinoma. Offering a good response to the RTCT provided, the disease showed complete metabolic response with posttreatment changes as per the Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography scan (FDG‐PET/CT) reports post 6 months of treatment.
