Education has always been subject to current trends, such as adopting new technologies or integrating digitalization into traditional courses. Technology has already become more prevalent in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), leading to new developments in how students learn and how faculty members disseminate knowledge. During the pandemic, HEI stakeholders adapted traditional courses to online environments, implementing new tools to enhance the learning experience. When HEIs reopened, HEI faculty members chose which aspects of digital teaching and learning to keep. Five Swiss HEIs responded to the overarching RQ: Why and how should institutions blend learning, teaching, and technology? The purpose was to develop a graded classification to assist HEIs in assessing their institutional maturity in blended learning (BL). In this project, we present a matrix that includes BL, teaching, and technology (BLTT), and make recommendations for business HEIs implementing blended learning structures. Our matrix is based on previous literature; its originality lies in its general applicability to HEIs and its openness to adaptation by each school. By creating an operational Blended Learning maturity scale with four maturity levels for these institutions, we help them progress in this teaching format with recommendations at the managerial and operational levels. One limitation is the fact that only 5 Swiss HEIs were included. Future research is needed to demonstrate the model’s transferability to other Swiss and international institutions.
