Dehalogenative Regiospecific Etherification of 4-Bromo-1,1,2-trifluoro-1-butene with Phenols and Alcohols: Synthesis of 1,2-Difluorobuta-1,3-dien-1-yl Ethers

A practical and efficient method for the dehalogenative regiospecific etherification of 4-bromo-1,1,2-trifluoro-1-butene with phenols and alcohols has been developed. This transition-metal-free reaction, mediated by <i>tert</i>-butoxide bases, provides straightforward access to a diverse array of valuable 1,2-difluorobuta-1,3-dien-1-yl ethers in moderate to excellent yields. The protocol features mild conditions, excellent functional group tolerance, operational simplicity, and gram-scale preparation capability.
