SCHOOL AND FAMILY: HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT AND MODERN CHALLENGES

This article examines the historical development of cooperation between family and school in the educational process, as well as the characteristics of this interaction in the modern era. In antiquity, the importance of family upbringing and the need to complement it with state education were emphasized. In the Middle Ages, church schools dominated, which reduced the role of the family. During the Renaissance and the Modern period, the significance of the family increased again, and family–school interaction was viewed as a condition for harmonious development. In the XIX-XX centuries, cooperation between school and family was scientifically substantiated, and its decisive role in the formation of a child’s personality was recognized. In the XX century, the features of the digital generation and social changes require organizing parent– school cooperation in new formats.
