Figure 1 shows the most generalised scheme of information integration (Tononi, 2008) in the brain through mental phenomena. Information, spreading generally in the direction from sensory input to motor output, can be delayed in structures that store memory until it is needed to solve the corresponding problems (see “Memory fragments”). However, the most important thing here is that information can be integrated only at the level of managerial NNs and only under the auspices of the managerial mental phenomena of subjective assessment, decision-making, etc. implemented by them (see Figure 1, large rectangle “Control neuronal networks”). This becomes possible because information, being initially fixed in the structure of NNs, through mental phenomena (mental images, etc.) loses its "attachment" to its physical carriers and becomes manipulated, combined, and integrated by the subject through subjective assessment, forming a Global Workspace (Baars, 1988).
