Systemic isotretinoin treatment for acne: important aspects of efficacy, safety, and management in the setting of psychosomatic disorders. A literature review.

Objective. To review and analyze data from Russian and international studies on systemic acne therapy and its impact on psychosomatic health. To present the results of clinical observations. Results. Upon completion of treatment with a dose of 150 mg/kg, hyperseborrhea completely resolved, and closed and open comedones were absent. Papules and pustules completely regressed, with no post-acne signs. Symptoms of hypochondriasis were absent, with a positive demeanor and good mood, and no excoriations. Subsequent follow-up of the patient showed no new lesions for three years after completion of isotretinoin therapy. Conclusions: Systemic isotretinoin Sotret is an effective and proven treatment for moderate to severe acne. Its use significantly increases the clinical efficacy of therapy, achieving sustained remission, while side effects are generally temporary and rarely severe. Optimizing the dosage regimen and careful monitoring help minimize risks and improve treatment safety. Early and appropriate administration of isotretinoin not only promotes rapid resolution of breakouts but also reduces the likelihood of cosmetic complications, such as scarring and discoloration, as well as the psychoemotional consequences of the disease. Incorporating a psychodermatological approach into routine acne treatment represents a promising approach that can dramatically improve treatment outcomes, increase patient compliance, and significantly enhance their quality of life. Current research and clinical experience support the widespread use of this drug in dermatological practice, as well as further exploration of personalized treatment regimens to maximize the quality of life for acne patients.
