Introduction. In order to create a comfortable environment for the population and develop the potential of mountain and recreational areas, it is necessary to form a modern and high-quality pedestrian infrastructure of cities and towns, including those focused on tourist services. To form methods for an objective assessment of the quality of pedestrian infrastructure, it is necessary to form a scientifically based universal methodology for assessing the quality of public transport services. The purpose of the study is to develop a methodology for assessing the quality of transport services for the urban population, which is especially important for the development of cities focused on tourist services for the population. Research methods include conducting a sociological survey, a comprehensive field study of urban objects, and the use of statistical methods for processing the information received. The use of mathematical modeling methods to form a methodology for assessing the quality of pedestrian transport services. Results and discussion. A sociological study was conducted to assess the convenience of movement from the user’s point of view, taking into account the selected indicators. A weighting factor is obtained for each indicator. Field studies have been conducted to determine the characteristics of a pedestrian path, pedestrian flow, and automobile flow. A mathematical model for determining the quality of pedestrian transport services is proposed, taking into account the actual indicators and weight coefficients reflecting the importance of street and road networks for the user. The results of the study are compared with the existing methodology for assessing the level of pedestrian convenience on the road network. The results of the study made it possible to determine the comfort level of pedestrians, taking into account quantitative and qualitative indicators. The proposed mathematical model for determining the quality of pedestrian transport services shows low convergence with the existing methodology for assessing the quality of transport services, which justifies the need to implement the obtained algorithms for evaluating elements of the transport complex and proves the critical importance of using qualitative metrics. Suggestions for practical application and direction of future research. The research results can be useful in making decisions on improving street and road networks, including as a method of creating modern and high-quality pedestrian infrastructure to increase the attractiveness of urban tourist spaces while developing the potential of mountain and recreational areas. Further research may be aimed at studying the indicators of pedestrian transport services in small towns and recreational areas of mountainous territories.
