Evaluation of Dy ³⁺ Doped Alkali Modifiers Infused Telluro‐Phosphate Glasses for Prominent Lighting Applications

ABSTRACT A novel series of six glasses was synthesized to develop a prominent lighting material with notable durability and efficiency. The current study explores the comparative effects of alkali oxides and fluorides on telluro‐phosphate glasses, a part that remains quite underexplored in the available literature. The constructed composition was 44TeO 2 +25P 2 O 5 +20MX+10CdO+1Dy 2 O 3 (MX: Li 2 O, LiF, Na 2 O, NaF, K 2 O, KF), and the glass specimens were synthesized through melt‐quenching technique. The bonding parameters showcased ionicity in the synthesized glasses using absorption scrutiny. In the glass, the occurrence of lower symmetry surrounding the Dy 3+ ions location was confirmed through the trend Ω 2 >Ω 4 >Ω 6 computed through the Judd–Ofelt framework. The photoluminescence results showed that the 4 F 9/2 → 6 H 13/2 transition is hypersensitive. The elevated stimulated emission cross‐section () was found for the glass with K 2 O modifier (TPCD:KO), which makes it applicable for lasing applications. The colorimetric investigations, including CCT, color purity (39.4%), and Y/B ratio, were used to examine the efficiency of white light emitted by the glasses under investigation. The estimated luminescence efficiency was found to be higher for TPCD:KO (70.5%) glass. The TPCD:KO glass sample is better suited for applications that require white light emission.
