Participation of girls in higher education has been a matter of concern and priority in the policy planning and administration in India, particularly with the advent of economic liberalization in 1990s. It is found that the well-adjusted students have a greater probability of being integrated and balanced personality, socially familiar, cheerful and wholesome life, and environmentally dynamic and eventually become invaluable asset for the society. In this study hostel is noticeable area, a hostel is a place where students live in a supervised environment. Hostel life has a great impact on the academic achievement and health status of the students. This study aimed at to unleash the level of social, health and academic adjustment of girl boarders pursuing higher education. A total sample 140 newly enrolled UG students of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and Rama Devi University, located in Odisha were involved. For this study descriptive survey method was adopted. The data was collected through questionnaire. The result show that the students had an average level of social, health and academic adjustment. The result also revealed that the nature of social and health adjustment of urban girls was slightly better rather than the rural counterparts. Whereas, the academic adjustment of the rural girls was slightly better than their urban counterparts. It was also found that there was no significant difference in social, health and academic adjustment in relation to locality of the girl students pursuing higher education.
