Abstract: There are lots of reasons that appear in the form of questions about the origin of the universe, the existence of extra-terrestrial life, and the potential for life beyond the Earth. The hunt to explore space has forced humans to develop better and better technologies. The convergence of nanotechnology with space exploration heralds a paradigm shift in how humanity approaches missions beyond Earth. We have observed significant intersections between Astronomy and Nanotechnology and reviewed their intersections. The involvement of nanotechnology in astronomical research has led to advancements in many areas, such as observational techniques, space exploration, and materials science. Quantum dot detectors are more sensitive and precise devices based on nanotechnology. Carbon nanotubes contributed to the enhancement of the capability of space telescopes to observe deep-space objects. Nanoscale ion thrusters that are capable of providing higher efficiency and longer operational life. Nanowire-based biosensors have been developed and used for the detection of amino acids and other organic molecules on Mars. Gold nanoparticles have been used to study changes in cell signalling pathways in microgravity conditions. Lithium-ion batteries have become an important part of space technology due to their high specific energy and efficient operation. It has also been studied that as the demand for larger telescopes increases than there will be a significant increase in the size and weight of the mirror. The review also covered the extreme cases of propulsion requirements, such as those for Chip-Satellites (extremely small satellites) and Membrane-Satellites (ultrathin, flexible satellites). Reducing cost is also one of the main objectives under consideration in this review. This review aims to explore the research that collaborates astronomy and nanotechnology to build a bridge between these two fields, to provide the benefits, and to enhance the research area. It focuses on the significant contributions from various scientists and researchers. It provides an extensive overview of the current state and future directions of the interdisciplinary approach.
