Bases Epistemológicas de la Investigación Acción Participativa

Epistemology is the philosophical discipline specialized in studying the validity of knowledge and scientific methods; therefore, it is often described as knowledge about knowledge. This research article, based on documentary analysis with a qualitative approach and hermeneutic orientation, aims to analyze the historical approaches to the problem of knowledge from philosophy, culminating in epistemology as a discipline that contributes to solving knowledge-related problems by reconstructing theories and fostering debates and discussions on scientific issues, particularly regarding the validity and truthfulness of research findings. In addition to providing an overview of conceptual aspects of epistemology, the study focuses on the research model known as Participatory Action Research (PAR), in recognition of its creator, whose centennial birth anniversary was commemorated in 2025. The analysis centers on the compelling proposal of rigorously applying epistemological procedures to the PAR model.
