Clinical case of vesical — vascular syndrome — a precursor of hypertensive crisis

Arterial hypertension can manifest itself in the oral cavity by the development of vesicovascular syndrome in patients who are unaware of their disease. A clinical case of vesicovascular syndrome in patient who considered herself almost healthy is present. Aim. To raise the dentist’s awareness of the possible manifestations of general somatic pathology on the oral mucosa. Materials and methods. The vesicovascular syndrome was diagnosed in 46-year-old patient on the basis of a characteristic clinical picture and anamnesis: on the cheek mucosa there is a hemorrhagic bubble 1.5×4 cm. Color of mucosa near the bubble is not changed, mucosa is painless. At the time of examination blood pressure was 170/95 mmHg. Treatment goals were strengthening the vascular wall and epithelization of the mucosa after opening of the bubble. Urgently the patient was referred to a general doctor for diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension. Conclusion. The development of vesicovascular syndrome in the oral cavity may indicate arterial hypertension and sudden blood pressure surges. In order to prevent dangerous complications of arterial hypertension dentist should refer the patient to a general practitioner in time.
