Review on spinel cobalt ferrites: cutting-edge applications

Abstract This review paper focuses on the elemental properties of ferrites, their classification, and the recent applications of the most important spinel ferrites. Spinel ferrites are hard magnetic materials and are technically a significant category of ferrites due to their various applications as high-density recording media, characterised by efficient magnetic anisotropy, average magnetisation, and large coercivity under ambient conditions. Great research has been conducted and continues to be carried out in this field of science and technology. This paper reviews the applications of cobalt ferrite in various fields, including biomedical, hyperthermia, drug delivery, supercapacitors, Li-ion batteries, water splitting, catalytic activity, high-frequency magnetic devices, and gas sensor applications. A reliable effort has been made to include a few real references and details of the work's outcomes, given the field's size.
