Context and relevance. Intensification of verbal messages plays an important role in communication, as it helps to convey not only information, but also emotions, without which communication cannot be considered complete. The scientific basis of the study was the theory of intensification, developed thanks to Charles Bally, Edward Sapir and the works of many Russian scientists. Objective. Identification, study of the features of existence and forecasting the development of the phenomenon of pleonastic intensification of words with exhaustive semantics. Hypothesis. We believe that the emergence of pleonastic intensification of words with exhaustive semantics is associated not so much with occasional use, as with the development of the semantic system of the language. Methods and materials. The study was conducted using statistical and mathematical methods on the material of the National Corpus of the Russian Language, linguistic semantic analysis was carried out based on dictionary entries of explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language by different authors, linguistic modeling was carried out according to the method of E.V. Terentyeva. Results. The hypothesis of the study was partially confirmed, as the multiplicity of motivations for the emergence of pleonastic combinations of intensifiers and words with exhaustive semantics was revealed. Conclusions. The problem of pleonastic intensification of words with exhaustive semantics seems promising for further scientific consideration due to the activity of the process itself, many linguistic facts, and the multiplicity of motivations.
