Adsorption Kinetics of Cr on Co-MOF-71 and NaOH-Treated MOF Thin Films Derived from PET Waste.

In the present study, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was used for the preparation of MOF thin film for the adsorption of chromium from aqueous solution. four kinetic models: pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticle diffusion and Elovich were used for analyzing kinetics of chromium adsorption on MOFs thin film. Among these, the pseudo-second-order model best described the adsorption kinetics for both MOFs. At various concentrations (50, 100, and 150 mg/L) and temperatures (303, 313, and 323 K), the equilibrium adsorption capacities (Qe) of chromium were measured. The MOF thin films showed excellent pollutant efficiency. removal, showing that MOF1 (Co-MOF-71) and MOF2 (NaOH-treated Co-MOF-71) have favorable activation energies of 44.046 kJ/mol and 69.372 kJ/mol, respectively. FTIR spectra and SEM micro-graphs were used to confirm the films' characteristics. In conclusion, the MOF thin films demon-started high adsorption capacity for chromium removal from aqueous solutions, good thermal stability, water insolubility, low cost, and ease of preparation.
