SPECIFIC FEATURES OF CASE MANAGEMENT FOR WAR VETERANS UNDER PROBATION

The article examines the features of case management in relation to war veterans as subjects of probation in the context of contemporary social transformations caused by the full-scale war in Ukraine. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing number of war veterans who become involved in the criminal justice system and are placed under probation supervision, as well as by the need to adapt probation technologies to their socio-psychological specificity. The paper emphasizes that combat experience, difficulties in adapting to civilian life, disruption of social roles, and limited resources for independently coping with life challenges significantly complicate the resocialization process of war veterans and reduce the effectiveness of standard forms of social and educational work. In the article, case management is considered as a technology of individualized probation supervision aimed at addressing complex socio-psychological problems of the client and coordinating various types of assistance. The expediency of its selective application to war veterans in cases of socio-psychological maladaptation and increased risks of violating probation conditions is substantiated. Attention is focused on the facilitative nature of interaction between probation officers and clients, the orientation toward partnership-based relationships, consideration of possible traumatic experiences, and recognition of the veteran’s personal resources. The article summarizes the key features of organizing case management with regard to war veterans as subjects of probation, including the individualization of support, a focus on overcoming socio-psychological maladaptation, interagency coordination of assistance, the dynamic nature of case management, and an emphasis on restoring social capacity and client autonomy. It is shown that case management within the probation system should be regarded as a tool for the resocialization of war veterans in the community, aimed at restoring social functioning, forming prosocial roles, and supporting the process of gradual cessation of unlawful behavior. It is emphasized that adapting case management to the socio-psychological specificity of war veterans creates prerequisites for increasing the effectiveness of probation supervision and contributes to more sustainable resocialization of this category of individuals within the community.
