Database of hypervelocity impact acquisitions, capturing different dynamic fragmentation modalities (projectile-based and laser-based). These datasets are intended to be used with the accompanying processing software, available at https://github.com/tloloum/DebrisTracer. The experimental tests were conducted on several facilities : - A two-stage light-gas gun (2SLGG) named MICA [1], located at ENSTA, Brest, France, and a 2SLGG HERMES at Thiot Ingenierie [3]. Both of these facilities are capable of accelerating a millimeter size projectile to hypersonic speeds between a few hundreds m/s and 6700 m/s, enabling studies of hypervelocity impacts. - A high power laser facilities named BELENOS [2] at ENSTA, Brest, France. BELENOS laser pulse is capable of delivering a maximum energy of 3 J at 1064 nm with a Gaussian temporal pulse and a full width at half maximum of 7.5 ns. In all experiments, transverse shadowgraphy with a white light source and ultra-high speed camera (Shimadzu HPVX2) up to 2 million frames per second was performed to visualized the ejected debris on the target rear face (opposite to the projectile impact / laser beam). The debris can be collected using a paraffin gel collector with a very high collection rate. Post-mortem gel samples were then analyzed by the mean of X-ray micro-tomography at CRT Morlaix (France). These analyses enabled the representative size and mass distribution of the ejecta to be determined and compared with values extracted from our Topological Data Analysis method (DebrisTracer).
