Optimizing Gibberellic Acid Treatment for Enhancing Growth and Physiological Performance in Oat (Avena sativa L.).

The current study evaluates the effects of gibberellic acid (GA₃) treatments applied for different durations on Oat (Avena sativa L.). The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Four GA₃ concentrations (0, 50, 250, and 500 mg/L) were used, and seeds were soaked for 15 or 30 minutes. The impact of these treatments was assessed on seed germination, vegetative growth, and various physiological characteristics of the plants. The results revealed that GA₃ treatments influenced the morphological and physiological traits. Significant increases were observed in plant height, root length, and dry matter (both shoot and root), particularly in the GA50T30 mg/L treatment. These improvements highlight a positive, dose-dependent response to GA₃, with optimal effects at moderate concentrations and longer exposure times. Overall, the application of GA₃ at varying concentrations and durations has a significant impact on the physiological performance of oat plants. Treatments, especially at GA50T30, GA250T30, and GA500T30 mg/L, led to notable increases in photosynthetic pigments, enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant activity, and stomatal characteristics. These findings suggest that GA₃ application, particularly under the T30 condition, can effectively enhance both the growth and physiological traits of this plant.
