Determination of the thermodynamic state of composite grinding wheels and the machined surface of rails during the grinding process

This article attempts to describe the thermal interaction between a composite abrasive tool and the surface of a railway rail. The results of modeling the grinding process for railway rails using two types of grinding wheels (unit-cast and composite) are presented in the Ansys finite-element analysis environment. The characteristics of the temperature flow on the surface of the processed rail layer and the temperature state of the abrasive tool's working surfaces are determined. The influence of the hardness of the composite grinding wheel elements on the formed microrelief of the upper part of the rail running surface is determined.
