The polyfunctionality of punctuation marks in poetic text

<p><strong>The object</strong> of analysis is the multifunctionality of both individual punctuation marks and their combinations in a poetic text, which form a combined structure. <strong>The purpose</strong> of the study is to substantiate the choice of certain punctuation marks based on the specific features of a poetic text and the individual author's approach to revealing its inherent meaning. <strong>The research material</strong> consists of poetic texts by various authors, which reveal both the general and the author's subjective choices of punctuation marks, which are influenced by both intonation and structural-semantic factors. Special attention is given to the use of the question mark in rhetorical statements, as well as the use of periods to mark parcelled constructions. <strong>The results</strong> of the study demonstrate the potential of punctuation marks as a flexible system and an effective means of expressing the author's intentions.</p>
