Role of Artificial Intelligence in L5-S1 Total Disc Replacement

Abstract This case report highlights a successful L5-S1 total disc replacement for a 55-year-old female with chronic low back pain, with radiculopathy that did not respond to conservative therapy. Imaging prior to surgery verified the etiology as degenerative disc disease of the L5-S1 level. Postoperative results showed good disc height restoration, preserved mobility, and implant location. Artificial intelligence-based tool use in preoperative radiographic evaluation and surgical planning, as well as postoperative assessment of implant positioning and surgical accuracy, which provided an unbiased result.
