Experience in treating skin and soft tissue infections complicated by sepsis using instillation systems of negative pressure therapy

Skin and soft tissue infections are one of the main pathologies in surgery. This article presents comparative results on the effectiveness of treatment for patients with skin and soft tissue infections complicated by sepsis using vacuum-infusion therapy (NPWT i-d) and classical vacuum-assisted wound management (NPWT). The study included 35 patients, of whom 18 were in the NPWT i-d group and 17 in the NPWT group. When using the vacuum-infusion method compared to vacuum-assisted therapy, there is a significant reduction in the duration of polyorgan failure resolution (SOFA score), as well as time to normalization of inflammation markers levels (PCT, CRP); it reduces the number of surgical debridements, wound cleansing times, duration of systemic antibiotic therapy, and decreases hospital bed days.
