Supercontinuum light source for optical coherence tomography using liquid-filled photonic crystal fiber

Photonic crystal fiber is designed and simulated to study the generation of tunable supercontinuum spectrum. The optical characteristics of the fiber required for numerical analysis like dispersion and nonlinear parameters are investigated at wavelength from 1 to 2 µm by filling the inner two layers of air hole in the cladding area with external liquids like acetone, glycerin and benzene of different refractive indices. The highest mid-infrared SC spectrum range obtained from 900 to 3000 nm with 2 cm fiber length. Mid-infrared broad band supercontinuum light source is very useful for optical coherence tomography and biomedical applications.
