Prism-assisted surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor for detection of glucose level in urine

This work shows a highly sensitive SPR structure for the sensing of glucose level in urine. The structure is composed with four layers namely silver (Ag), silicon nitride (Si₃N₄), barium titanate (BaTiO₃), and graphene. The Si₃N₄ layer acts as a protective layer for Ag layer to protect this layer from oxidation. This structure performance has been observed for the quality factor, sensitivity as well as the accuracy of detection. Here, the performance evaluation of this proposed structure is considered for different urine glucose level. The presented structure depicts the highest sensitivity of 352.94 degree/RIU with optimized material thicknesses used in this structure. The observed quality parameters and accuracy of detection for this structure are 59.61 /RIU and 1.0135, respectively. Hence, this proposed sensor opens a new platform in biosensing with high performance parameters.
