Enhancing Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic Education Through Interactive Logical Hydraulic System Simulation

This paper presents the design, development, and classroom integration of a Windows-based logical simulation application for hydraulic systems, implemented in the MET 1300 Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic course.The application supports a simple interactive modeling, simulation, and analysis of hydraulic circuits, providing a virtual platform for students to engage with fluid power concepts prior to using the AMATROL 990-BH1 Basic Hydraulics training system.By offering safe and cost-effective access to circuit exploration, the tool enhances the illustration of hydraulic components, functions, and system behavior without relying exclusively on physical laboratory equipment.The pre-and post-lab surveys are conducted to assess the concept check and analyze its impact.The results indicate that the application improves understanding of the basics of hydraulic systems.It also boosts students' confidence in implementing their hydraulic circuits on the AMATROL 990-BH1.
