Laboratory Experiments as Hands-on Homework Assignments for a Mezzanine Course on Electromagnetic Compatibility

Many principles central to electromagnetic-compatibility engineering are counter-intuitive.Hands-on activities for students can mitigate the confusion produced by electromagnetic physics and provide opportunities to attempt and refine EMC techniques.Such techniques are usually presented in a first-year graduate course.At the author's primarily-undergraduate institution, the EMC-focused graduate course is cross-listed with an undergraduate course.On top of meeting the objectives for the undergraduate course, the graduate students complete an additional set of laboratory experiments.This paper presents those experiments: objectives, equipment required, procedures, and student feedback.All 10 experiments can be performed using equipment that is part of a standard undergraduate electronics lab.
