Verbalization of regional cultural memory (exemplified by the precedent names of the Tula text)

The article examines a corpus of Tula precedent names functioning as a specific verbal code of regional cultural memory. The research aims to establish that precedent names of the Tula region serve as a means of verbalizing regional cultural memory. The scientific novelty lies in proving, for the first time using the material of the Tula cultural text, that precedent names are indeed a means of verbalizing the region’s cultural memory. Such names allow for the identification of a local code of cultural memory, defining Tula as a unique and distinctive cultural text. The study concludes that the system of regional precedent names forms a unique field of cultural memory, ensuring its transmission and stability. These names can be classified into the following thematic groups: names of persons and personages, geographical features, regional products, and names of events and enterprises. Key values of Tula culture include craftsmanship, hospitality, diligence, and the defense of the homeland.
