Review of: "Oncology Nutrition Guidelines: From Clinician Limitations to Biologist‑Nutritionist–Led Patient Implementation Tools"

This review extracts the main elements from different guidelines concerning nutritional support in different cancer entities.As an important step, the review addresses the fact that general recommendations for nutrition in these patients are not suf cient to target the individual needs of the different patients and to individualise nutritional support.Moreover, nutritional illiteracy and misbeliefs, which are quite prevalent, are recognised as a further obstacle to adequate nutrition.In this review, a Hybrid Framework between clinician and patient, built around six high-nutritional-impact malignancies and organizing care into ve phases ((1) prehabilitation, (2) perioperative/intensive treatment initiation (e.g., surgery, HSCT), (3) active systemic treatment (chemo, radio, immunotherapy), (4) post-treatment early recovery, and (5) longer-term survivorship or palliation), is proposed, and a text-based clinician algorithm for cancer nutritional management for each of the different cancer entities is presented.The main added value of this review lies in the fact that it proposes a personalized approach to individualized nutrition in the different cancer entities, recognising that one size does not t all.This approach combines situation-speci c nutritional support with training for healthcare professionals and patients.Moreover, the review also generates ideas on how to scienti cally investigate the effects of this.
