The article is devoted to the issues of developing a concept of Ukrainian probation, nationally conditioned and one that uses the best practices of world probation based on comparative analysis. The relevance of the article is determined by the specification of global challenges to public security and factors: expansion of the types of activities of probation specialists and personnel, introduction of juvenile probation sectors, increase in the number of probation subjects who have the status of combatants, war veterans, persons with post-traumatic stress disorder, other nosologies and features of cognitive development. The purpose of the article was to reveal the target vectors for the development of nationally conditioned Ukrainian probation. The study confirmed the following target vectors: ensuring the safety of society, which involves changing the orientations from the execution of punishment to the safety of the community and the observance of human rights, the rule of law as the core of European standards and practices spread in the ideas and strategies of probation, social resocialization with a variety of support programs and service providers to meet the needs of convicted and/or released offenders legally, economic efficiency through the appropriate use of probation resources, improving the socio-cultural and economic profile of each probation subject, raising the social status, prestige of the profession and material support of probation specialists and staff. It is proposed to monitor the quality of programs for the resocialization and reintegration of offenders taking into account the appropriate implementation of the constructive experience of the United Kingdom and other European countries.The following promising aspects of further development of the topic of the article were identified: analytics of sustainable development challenges for the development of practical strategies for the participation of the community and the public in the resocialization of probation subjects; expedient implementation of world and European experience based on socio-cultural traditions and established forms and methods of social and educational work aimed at the resocialization of the offender, the development or improvement of his necessary general and socially significant competencies of law-conscious prosocial behavior and activity.
