Plastic Biodegradation In their Research Article (10.1002/adsc.70354), Hye-Young Jang and co-workers report an efficient acid-catalyzed strategy to upcycle PLA and POM waste into high-value dioxolanones. Used as monomers, these derivatives create a PLLA-based polymer with enhanced thermal stability and biodegradability that outperforms cellulose—a first for sustainable plastic design.
