Preventive safety in hydrogen infrastructure

Abstract This study examines computational fluid dynamics modeling for predicting hydrogen leak safety risks. Using PHAST Standalone 9.1 code, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics simulations analyzed hydrogen dispersion under varying wind speeds. This proactive approach addresses limited empirical precedents in hydrogen infrastructure planning. Computational fluid dynamics simulations identify potential weak spots and risk factors undetectable by conventional methods. Beyond hazard detection, computational fluid dynamics modeling optimizes strategic placement of safety equipment including gas monitors, ventilation systems, and fire protection devices. The simulated environment enables scenario exploration and issue resolution before real hazards emerge.
