Development of measures to reduce energy losses in electrical networks by group regulation of current transformer ratios

The study aims to propose organizational and technical measures reducing losses of electricity during its transportation in distribution electrical networks. The object of the study was operation modes of electrical networks with the optimum achieved by redistributing reactive power flows. The flows are redistributed by regulating voltage using certain group switching of current transformer ratios via current-controlled switches of regulation under load and without excitation. The essence of these technical measures is the replacement of electromechanical switch devices with current-controlled ones. A technological method of the study included simulation and subsequent calculation of the modes on the section of the operated electric power system of the Republic of Buryatia using the RastrWin3 software suite. The effectiveness of the proposed switching activities was assessed by comparing the minimum optimal power loss in electrical modes with and without the proposed devices. The total active power loss at the nominal current transformer ratios was determined to be 1.22 MW. The calculations show that for optimal loss ratios, losses are equal to 1.09 and 1.17 MW for on-load regulated transformers with and without unexcited switching, respectively. The implementation of the proposed measures will reduce the technical losses of electricity during its transport due to the group regulation of current transformer ratios, including on-line by changing the load during the day.
