Structural determinants of individual mental models of military personnel interaction

The research purpose is to prove the existence of structural determination of the five subsystems of the individual mental model of military personnel interaction (IMM MPI). To achieve this goal, a multiple regression analysis was conducted using the stepwise inclusion of components into the model. The predictors were components of IMM MPI, while the response variables were generalized indicators of IMM MPI: commonality, accuracy, and effectiveness. The result of the regression analysis was three statistically significant models, each explaining over 30 % of the variance for every indicator. It has been proven that all five subsystems (cognitive, metacognitive, motivational-value, emotional-volitional, and status-role) possess varying integrative and determinative power in explaining the successful functioning of the mental model of military personnel interaction. The conducted research allowed for the empirical verification of theoretical concepts regarding the five-level structural-organization of collective mental models of military personnel, identified the contribution of various psychological components to their formation, and explained new patterns related to the effectiveness of joint activities in military-professional settings. The obtained data have practical significance for optimizing the process of training and preparing military personnel, as well as for developing methodologies for forming effective team mental models in extreme conditions.
