EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BUCKLING-RESTRAINED BRACES USING STEEL MORTAR PLANKS

The fatigue performance of buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) depends not only on the core steel materials but also on the structural details. The authors proposed a clearance adjustment construction method to control small clearance between the core plates and restraining parts by partially applied clearance adjustment materials. This study investigates the fatigue performance of BRBs using steel mortar planks (BRBSM) incorporating this partially applied clearance adjustment method through cyclic loading tests under constant strain amplitude. The experimental results demonstrate that the partially applied construction method provides a fatigue life generally equivalent to that of the fully applied method.
