Relationship between peripheral muscle strength and functional mobility at extubation and ICU discharge in mechanically ventilated critically ill patients

Introduction: Muscle weakness acquired in the intensive care unit (ICU) (ICU-AW) is associated with worse clinical outcomes and prolonged functional recovery. Although handgrip strength (HS) and Perme mobility score (PE) are widely used, the relationship between peripheral strength and functionality at critical moments such as extubation and ICU discharge is still poorly explored. The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between handgrip strength, global muscle strength and functionality (Perme) in extubation and ICU discharge.
