Measuring supply chain resilience and its temporal–spatial evolution in railway freight stations using the MSRE model: a case study of Guangxi cities

Against the backdrop of increasingly complex regional supply chain systems, freight stations, as crucial nodes in the supply chain, directly impact the continuity of the logistics chain and the stability of regional economic operations through their operational resilience. Based on the Micro–Supply Chain Resilience–Efficiency Model (MSRE), this paper constructs an analytical framework for evaluating the resilience and efficiency coordination of freight stations using freight stations in Nanning, Baise, and Fangchenggang, Guangxi as case studies. By leveraging 20 years of freight volume data (2015–2024) from these three locations, a simplified resilience measurement model is established. Data analysis reveals distinct characteristics in freight stations regarding disturbance resistance, adaptability, and resilience. The results indicate that Guangxi's railway freight stations generally exhibit a "growth–oriented over stability" feature, with freight volume volatility being a key factor influencing resilience indices. Digital transformation significantly enhances freight stations' information response capabilities and system coordination efficiency, effectively balancing "growth" and "stability." This drives the transition of resilience structures from "growth–driven" to "coordination– driven," promoting dual improvements in both resilience and efficiency at micro–nodes in the supply chain. The findings provide theoretical and practical references for the high–quality development of the China–ASEAN regional logistics system.
