The Path of Estimated Resistance: Updates of the Estimated Number and Cost of Antimicrobial Resistant Gonococcal Infections in Men and Women Aged 15 to 39 Years in the United States: 2018–2023

Using progressively refined methodology, this study estimated the number and cost of incident antimicrobial resistant gonococcal (AR GC) infections during 2018-2023. An estimated 787,000 incident AR GC infections in persons aged 15-39 years occurred in 2023, with lifetime costs of $214.5M and 80% of costs attributable to infections in women.
