PRUSSIAN BLUE PIGMENT (BLUE) BASED ON IRON (III) CHLORIDE (FeCl 3 )

Pigment is one of the basic components in the manufacture of paint that functions as a colorant and covering power in paint. Prussian blue or also known as ferric ferrocyanide, for a long time used in the coating industry such as a mixture in baking varnish, ink dye and detergent additive. The methods commonly used in the synthesis of prussian blue are coprecipitation and hydrothermal methods. The coprecipitation method is commonly used in the synthesis of prussian blue because it has advantages such as a simple preparation process, low energy required and the resulting product is pure. Iron oxide blue is an important material technology and has superior characteristics in non-toxicity, chemical stability, durability and low cost. Precipitation and synthesis are the processes of forming pigments by reacting FeCl3 solution with K3Fe(CN6) to form a blue precipitate.
