Disruptive Interference in Open Digital Environments: A Case-Based Reflection on Harassment, Recognition Failure, and Methodological Reconfiguration

This article presents a case-based analytical reflection on a disruptive interaction observed during a live digital broadcast conducted within an ongoing research context. The episode is characterized by the replacement of dialogic engagement with persistent personal attacks, false accusations, and attempts to destabilize the interactional environment. Rather than treating the event as an isolated occurrence, the analysis frames it as a structural phenomenon emerging from the dynamics of open digital platforms. Particular attention is given to the limitations of current platform moderation systems, especially their difficulty in recognizing context-dependent forms of symbolic violence. When evaluation mechanisms rely primarily on isolated content rather than interactional patterns — such as repetition, escalation, and intent — significant forms of harm may remain unacknowledged. In response to the disruption, a methodological reconfiguration of the environment was implemented, including participation constraints and structural mediation. These measures are interpreted not as punitive actions, but as necessary adjustments to restore the viability of the interactional ecosystem. Grounded in the perspective of ecosystemic epistemology and the cartography of chance, the article argues that open digital environments cannot be sustained solely by unrestricted access. Instead, they require a balance between openness and structural responsibility in order to preserve meaningful interaction. This study contributes to ongoing debates on digital interaction, platform governance, and the sustainability of open environments, offering both an empirical account and a conceptual framework for understanding disruption in contemporary digital ecosystems.
