Scientific Equipment Sustainability

Laboratory equipment is pretty useful. It happens to facilitate many of the wonderful scientific results we hear about. It also happens to result in a lot of energy consumption, and has all types of implications in how the science is performed. In this chapter, I will share with you my 16 years of experience regarding how you should be thinking about the environmental sustainability of equipment. Sure, energy is important. But sustainability is more than energy, and we will look at how you can be empowered to make better decisions, cut through greenwashing, and run a more sustainable laboratory.
