Seismic imaging of the hole of Bad Aussee

The overdeepened basin of Bad Aussee, Austria, was investigated using high-resolution seismic reflection method to determine its structure, and based on this, its possible process of formation. The seismic data reveal the basin base and its interior structure, but the interpretation cannot confirm nor exclude one of the two hypotheses. Additional seismic profiles at Lake Altaussee show the bedrock topo-graphy and provide insight into the past drainage system.
