A New Synthetic Route to Daidzein

ABSTRACT A new synthetic route to daidzein is reported herein, utilizing 1,3‐dimethoxybenzene and p ‐anisaldehyde as the starting materials. The key transformations involve a Darzens condensation followed by an epoxide rearrangement, enabling the efficient construction of the daidzein core structure. This approach offers several advantages, such as the utilization of inexpensive and readily accessible raw materials as well as mild reaction conditions. Thus, it offers a new and efficient alternative approach for the preparation of daidzein and its derivatives.
