Criminal Jurisdiction and Modern Technology

This study explores criminal jurisdiction in the context of modern technological ‎developments, focusing on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) legal framework and ‎comparing it with other legal systems, particularly those of the United States and ‎France. It highlights the legal challenges arising from transnational cybercrimes, which ‎have complicated the application of traditional jurisdictional principles.‎ The research analyses the UAE's legislative framework governing criminal jurisdiction, ‎including Federal Law No. 39 of 2006 on international judicial cooperation in criminal ‎matters, Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2022 enhancing the role of federal courts in ‎cross-border crime prosecution, and Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on ‎cybercrimes, which establishes a balance between international cooperation and ‎national sovereignty.‎
