Women empowerment is a crucial process that enables women to gain control over their lives, make independent decisions, and participate fully in societal development. It encompasses social, economic, psychological, and political dimensions, aiming to eliminate gender discrimination and promote equality. Women have faced systemic barriers in education, employment, inheritance, and leadership roles, leading to their marginalization in various spheres of life. Despite various initiatives and policies, gender inequality remains a significant challenge in India and worldwide. A society cannot achieve holistic progress without the active participation and advancement of women. The main objectives of this study were to understand the meaning of Empowerment and to understand the meaning of Women’s Empowerment. The study intends to identify the characteristics of empowered women, and exploring its various dimensions. This is a documentary study and the research methodology is qualitative. The researcher reviews various articles, journals, books, etc. and defines the concept of empowerment and women's empowerment. The study concludes that women's empowerment is essential for social progress, as it enables women to take control of their lives, contribute to economic development, and participate fully in all spheres of society. The holistic development of women is vital for achieving gender equality and creating a just and equitable social and economic system.
