KVI Ontology: A Semantic Framework for Key Value Indicators in 6G Systems

The KVI Ontology is a semantic model developed within the 6G4Society project to support the structured representation of Key Values (KVs), Key Value Indicators (KVIs), and Key Sustainability Indicators (KSIs) in next-generation communication systems. It provides a machine-readable framework linking societal, environmental, and economic values to measurable indicators, enabling consistent assessment of the non-technical impacts of 6G technologies. The ontology aims to establish a shared and extensible conceptual foundation for value-driven analysis in 6G, addressing fragmentation in how values and indicators are defined across research and innovation efforts. By modelling relationships between values, objectives, impacts, stakeholders, and use cases, it supports traceability, interoperability, and informed decision-making. As a foundational and evolving resource, the KVI Ontology aspires to contribute to standardisation efforts and to foster a common understanding of value in emerging technologies. Researchers and practitioners are provided with a reusable knowledge base for semantic modelling, querying, and knowledge graph development, and encourages further extension, validation, and integration in future work.
