The results of research on the main influential factors of sustainable land use are presented, namely – environmental, economic, social. The essence of each of them is revealed in the format of the action of small, medium and large-scale milk production enterprises with a detailed description of the components and their significance in the integral provision of the assessment results. The comparative characteristics of traditional and sustainable land use allow us to form a general strategy for conducting production, which in turn, through technological solutions, is reflected in the properties of different types of enterprises in terms of the parameters of mechanization levels and energy consumption, product quality, genetic potential of animals, and the main risks of their activities. Data on producer groups reveal them by the structure of the standard size of the existing livestock and the potential volume of production. It has been established that compliance with the requirements of sustainable land use significantly depends on the production technology, which, in turn, varies depending on the standard size of the producer enterprise and affects the balance of these factors. The presented variants of methods for determining compliance with sustainable land use allowed to conduct a comparative assessment of milk producing enterprises according to the criteria of sustainable development and to establish the general aspects of their compliance. It is proved that enterprises with an average livestock size, with their sufficiently high technological processes, combine high economic efficiency, favorable interaction with local ecosystems and have social development prospects, which allows them to be assessed as the most sustainable. Smaller and larger farms have their own advantages and disadvantages, but are inferior in the overall assessment. According to the results of the research, actions are proposed regarding the possibility of increasing the assessment of influential factors for ensuring sustainable land use, such as technological solutions using the latest integrated systems and organizational solutions, resource conservation, as well as compliance with the requirements of organizational, regulatory and economic factors.
