Equity and Justice in the Global Scientific Enterprise

The three pillars of sustainability are defined as people, planet and profits. While historically sustainable action has focused on environmental sustainability and how to make these efforts economically viable, in order to be truly sustainable, the wellbeing and health of people must also be prioritized. This chapter explores equity and justice within the global scientific research enterprise through a systems lens, utilizing the Equity and Justice in Science Framework. It includes methods for exploring these topics, a broad review of current issues, as well as resources for readers to pursue further inquiry.
