Comparative Analysis of Family Values of the EAEU Population as the Basis for Demographic Behavior

This article presents a comparative analysis of family values in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. It examines the features of both the overall value system and family relationships in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia at both theoretical and empirical levels. The theoretical part of the study focuses on revealing the essence of cultural analysis from the perspective of content of value orientation according to S. Schwartz, G. Hofstede and R. Inglehart, which is key to this study. Empirical part aims to systemize available data on families' values in these countries based on results from World Values Survey. Similarities and differences between family values and attitudes in EAEU countries are analyzed using frequency analysis and cartography. The latter allows for visual representation of large amounts of information with specific regional features. Novelty of this research lies in analytical reworking of cross-country comparison using R. Inglehart methodology within specific integration association, highlighting aspects that reveal essence and content family values regionally. Author concludes that Armenians hold more traditional view on family than Kyrgyz. Countries and their border areas form clusters of regions with similar responses. Cartography reveals conflicting views across larger countries like Kazakhstan and Russia depending on region. This study can serve as a basis for further research into the value factor of motivating demographic behaviour not only among citizens of the former Soviet Union, but also among migrants in Russia.
