Acute Pancreatitis as the Initial Presentation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in a Male Patient

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease involving multiple organs and predominantly occurs in females, with musculocutaneous manifestations being the most common presentation. Initial presentation of SLE as acute pancreatitis is rare. One should carefully consider underlying alcohol history, smoking, and other risk factors, as the etiology of acute pancreatitis, especially in male patients. Diagnosing the etiology of acute pancreatitis correctly is important as it greatly affects the management of the patient. Here, we present a male patient who came to us with acute pancreatitis as the index presentation of SLE.
