EFFECT OF PLASTIC DEFORMATION OF 41Cr4 CHROMIUM STEEL ON EROSION WEAR RATE

<ns3:p>The aim of the work is to investigate the effect of initial deformation of 41Cr4 steel samples on the erosion wear rate under the influence of a stream of quartz sand particles. This chromium steel is widely applied in the construction of machines and devices. Erosion tests were performed on undeformed and deformed samples during uniaxial tension. The deformations of the samples were: 2.7%, 5.1%, and 7.3%. The angle between the particle stream axis and the sample was 25 and 90, the stream speeds were 22.6 m/s, 34.1 m/s, and 57.1 m/s. The authors found that during permanent deformation of 41Cr4 steel samples, strain hardening occurred. It was manifested by an increase in hardness and a decrease in the specific work to break the sample. A linear relationship was found between the erosion rate and the specific work determined during static tension to break the tested sample.</ns3:p>
